HTC | Category: Windows PhoneWell, I've had the HTC 7 Trophy for around a month. It's one of 7 devices available using the new Windows 7 software. I'd been waiting for what felt like an age as I'd done all the Microsoft training and had been awarded Windows 7 Phone VIP status. I thought I'd miss my old Sony Ericsson C905, and I have to a certain extent. I've gone from an 8.1 megapixel camera to a meagre 5, a battery that lasts 3 or 4 days down to one that lasts a day, and a rugged wee thing to a delicate slab of a thing that requires buffing with a cloth every 5 minutes to remove the fingerprints... but that's where the comparisons end. The HTC 7 Trophy is impressive. After all the hype I was expecting a handset that could rival the iPhone whilst keeping the integrity of HTC and I've not been too disappointed; It's easy to use; it's been designed to be intuitive and it beats iPhone for ease of use. The hubs are a great idea which makes everything accessible in a couple of steps, gone are the days or clicking through pages and pages of menu screens. It's fast; a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor means it does everything quickly and efficiently. I can go from calls to emails to the internet in seconds. It's well designed; it feels nice in your hand due to the sculpted back. It's not too big or too small; a nice weight but not a phone for your trouser pocket. It looks fantastic; thin, sleek and no trackpad or ball to stop the flowing lines. You can access everything you need for work onit; you can open, edit and send office documents. You can access Sharepoint, upload and download files to Sharepoint. Synchronise you Outlook and do more that you can on a Blackberry and with a cheaper bolt on. The only thing that lets it down is that, unlike the Desire, it doesn't fit the text onto the one screen that you can scroll up and down on. You zoom in on text and then you have to scroll back and forth following the line of text. I'm hoping this will be addressed and resolved with their next software update. Overall? I love the HTC 7 Trophy. Anyone who is considering an iPhone should take a look at this. It looks great, it does everything the iPhone does, it's cheaper than an iPhone, has 24 instead of 12 months warranty, and it's the only device to have got me excited in more than a year.
HTC was founded in 1997 by Cher Wang and Peter Chou. Initially a manufacturer of notebook computers, HTC began designing some of the world's first touch and wireless hand-held devices in 1998. The company has a rich heritage of many "firsts", including creating the first Microsoft-powered smartphone (2002) and the first Microsoft 3G phone (2005). Their first major product was made in 2000 and was one of the world's first touch screen smartphones. The Palm Treo 650 and the iPAQ were created by HTC. They started producing 3G-capable phones in early 2005 and made the world's first Android phone in 2008, the HTC Dream (also marketed as the T-Mobile G1). It was first released in the United States for pre-order through T-Mobile USA on September 23, 2008, and became available in U.S. T-Mobile stores on October 22, 2008. The G1 was available in the UK several days after its USA launch, and has since been introduced in many countries including Australia and Singapore. In 2009, the company launched the HTC Sense interface for the platform with the HTC Hero.
